Lent

The season of Lent is a 6-week period that lasts from Ash Wednesday (Feb. 10) until March 24. It has been a time for reflection and preparation for Good Friday and Easter by Christians for centuries. Through spiritual disciplines such as the repenting of sins, fasting, living more simply, and serving others, we draw closer to Christ. It is an opportunity for us to remember and identify with Jesus’ journey to the cross and ultimate expression of love. As Henri Nouwen stated, “it is a time of returning to God.”

It’s a time to more intentionally connect with Christ and experience renewal in our spiritual life. This year, let’s follow the words of John the Baptist, and allow our self to decrease so Christ can increase. What needs to be set aside for a closer walk with Him?
