Discipling Communities

Discipling Communities are the primary means of connection and spiritual formation for the people of First Alliance Church. Our desire is that every person who is part of First Alliance Church grows as a biblical, loving, Spirit-filled disciple becoming more like Christ, and that it is happening in the context of community. Being a disciple is as much about relationship as it is about knowledge.

Discipling Communities are small gatherings of people intentionally taking next steps to follow Jesus together. We follow Jesus as we connect to Christ, grow with others, and engage the world together for Spirit-led multiplication.

Discipling Communities are built around Jesus & people doing life together. They interact regularly and share life’s ups and downs through prayer, scripture, worship, fellowship, and service in the context of community and Truth with a gospel mindset. They are our primary means of spiritual formation and connection as biblical, loving, Spirit-filled disciples. This priority is the basis for current and future ministry decisions.

We would rather have lots of small groups instead of a few large groups.

These smaller gatherings of people (usually 8-15) meet for fellowship, study, prayer, service, etc. in community. Discipling Communities take the form of groups you may already be familiar with like home groups, men's groups, women's groups, and more. A Discipling Community can also be a mentoring (1-on-1 or 1-on-2) relationship or gender-based accountability cluster (3-4). They are diverse while being aligned around the same focal points and the same goal of making and multiplying disciples. Discipling Communities also exist for children (in Awana & Kingdomkids) and youth (on Sunday nights).

A life of following Jesus is not just about what we know, but how we apply and live out the gospel together for the good of others. It requires our active participation and involvement.

What if you had the privilege of following Jesus arm in arm with some other people sharing the ups and downs of life? What if you didn't have to figure this all out on your own?

Ready for something more? Become part of a Discipling Community. The goal isn't to be in lots of them, but to be all in the one you are part of. Click the link below to find out what is available. Or if you need help making a connection, click “Help Me Get in a Group” and complete the form.

It's also possible to launch new Discipling Communities based on interest and need. Maybe you have an idea or are willing to start one so more people can connect, grow, and engage together for Spirit-led multiplication in a smaller context. Contact Pastor Luke. He would be eager to talk with you and walk you through next steps.
